Job Summary Job Summary QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • A master’s degree in education, psychology or a related field; BCBA preferred; • A minimum of 4 years of experience providing behavioral support and social skills training; • A minimum of 2 years of experience working within a public school setting; • Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work; • Possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license. OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Behavior Support Services Manager, the Behavior Specialist will provide support to students exhibiting academic, social and behavioral challenges, with a focus on identifying skills necessary to achieve social competence in the school setting, while preventing and addressing challenging behaviors. The Behavior Specialist will work directly with students, using best practices in social skills training support to promote social skills acquisition, enhancing skill performance, removing interfering problem behaviors, and facilitating generalization of pro-social behavior. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for case management of assigned students; • Develop and implement appropriate behavior intervention plan; • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments that meet state and federal educational standards; • Train and supervise employees who implement social groups and behavioral intervention plans; • Develop behavior intervention plan materials as needed; • Provide in-service trainings for teachers and other staff on strategies related to promoting and teaching pro-social behaviors; • Conduct clinical meetings with Behavior Intervention Coaches and parents as needed; • Meet and provide feedback to Behavior Intervention Coaches and report to Manager regarding their performance; • Responsible for initial and on-going training of Behavior Intervention Coaches; • See more in job description below.
