POSITION SUMMARY
The Strategy & Market Development Director is a strategic partner to business leadership, accountable for leading a Strategy & Market Development team to identify, shape, and enable sustainable growth opportunities.
This role translates market insights and strategic priorities into clear growth strategies, portfolio and market development initiatives, and ensures effective execution through strong cross-functional collaboration and DBS application. The Director also plays a key role in building strategic capability, developing talent, and strengthening organizational readiness for strategy execution.
In addition, this role assumes end-to-end P&L responsibility as Sales Leader for the Microbiology Business, including strategy formulation, leading a focused sales team to deliver revenue targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will also be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
Strategy & Market Intelligence
- Lead market Intelligence and segmentation to identify attractive growth opportunities across core, expansion, and emerging markets.
- Develop market intelligence, customer insights, and competitive analysis to inform strategic planning and investment decisions. Update Proxy on quarterly basis.
- Support strategy planning cycles by quantifying market potential, value pools, and key risks.
- Align China strategies with BecDx global by seamless collaboration with global strategy leader and BU team
- Monitor and assess related Government policy impact by collaborating market access team
Growth & Market Development
- Shape and drive market development strategies, including value propositions, go-to-market approaches, and portfolio positioning.
- Partner with commercial, marketing, and product teams to support new market entry, portfolio expansion, and strategic launches.
- Enable transition from strategy definition to business adoption, aligned with governance and operating models.
Drive Adjacencies & Inorganic Growth
- Seek unmet needs and develop plans to close revenue & portfolio gaps by exploring SPG/Open innovation opportunities.
- Develop business cases, by collaborating Corporate/Platform Business Development teams
Strategic Projects & Program Leadership
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional strategic initiatives as project or workstream owner.
- Apply structured problem solving and analytical deep-dives to clarify strategic choices and trade-offs.
- Simplify complex strategic topics to enable leadership decision-making.
Microbiology Sales Leadership & Performance
- Own and drive the Microbiology sales strategy and execution, translating business priorities into clear sales plans, targets, and actions. Take full ownership for Microbiology sales revenue and P&L.
- Direct lead local Microbiology BU team, including sales, marketing and application functionalities.
- Develop Go-To-Market strategies and develop channel partners by partnering with China channel management team
- Accountable for Microbiology portfolio management with strong alignment with global Microbiology BU team.
- Lead regular sales performance reviews, forecast accuracy, and funnel management to ensure committed results are delivered.
- Actively monitor market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive activities, adjusting sales focus and tactics to capture commercial opportunities.
People | Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, coach, and develop the team, including strategy, market intelligence, or business development roles.
- Set clear objectives, accountability standards, and development plans to build a sustainable talent pipeline.
- Foster a culture of analytical rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement, role-modeling Danaher Core Behaviors.
- Strengthen cross-functional capability by developing team effectiveness in working with commercial, marketing, R&D, finance, and operations leaders.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Typically 8–12+ years of experience in strategy, market development, business development, consulting, or related fields. Sales management experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in market analysis, growth strategy, and cross-functional leadership.
- Experience in medical technology, diagnostics, life sciences, or complex B2B environments is preferred.
