About the Position:
Intermediate SQL Server DBA responsible for ensuring the operation, stability, and performance of databases across hybrid and Azure environments.
Actively involved in critical cloud migrations, DBA process automation, and production incident support.
Collaborates with development and analytics teams in a regulated environment, ensuring compliance, security, and high availability of data.
Core Technical Skills
- 4+ years as a SQL Server DBA (on-prem and Azure SQL / Managed Instance)
- Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, backup/restore strategies, and performance tuning
- T-SQL scripting and PowerShell automation
- HIPAA compliance, encryption, auditing, and SQL Server security model (roles, permissions, TDE, row-level security)
- Redgate or SolarWinds DPA experience
- Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning tools
- English Fluent
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Databricks or other cloud analytics platforms alongside SQL Server
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for database deployments (e.g., Azure DevOps, Redgate SQL Change Automation)
- ITSM/ticketing tool experience (ServiceNow, Jira, or similar)
- Knowledge of data replication, CDC, or ETL patterns between SQL Server and other systems
- Microsoft certifications (DP-300, AZ-104, or equivalent)
What They'll Actually Do
- Own tier-1/tier-2 database support — tickets, incidents, deployments, and on-call rotation
- Build automation to eliminate repetitive DBA requests — stored procs, scheduled jobs, self-service tooling where it makes sense
- Support the CareTend migration from WellSky to the Azure environment (planning, execution, validation)
- Collaborate with Tye's team, app dev, and analytics on schema changes, release coordination, and environment management
- Document runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base articles for ongoing operations
- Participate in capacity planning, index optimization, and query performance reviews
Must-Haves
- Real Azure migration experience — has planned and executed on-prem → Azure SQL/MI migrations, not just spun up a sandbox
- Can troubleshoot under pressure and communicate clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Low ego, ready to jump in and own problems from day one
- Comfortable working in a healthcare-regulated environment with strict change management and compliance requirements
