Introduction

IBM’s greatest invention is the IBMer. We believe that through the application of intelligence, reason and science, we can improve business, society and the human condition, bringing the power of open hybrid cloud and AI strategies to life for our clients and partners around the world.

Restlessly reinventing since 1911, IBM is one of the world’s largest technology and consulting organisations. Our teams support public and private sector clients to modernise complex enterprise platforms using cloud, data, integration and automation technologies.

IBM Australia is seeking an experienced Integration Architect to design and deliver enterprise‑scale integration solutions on AWS, supporting major transformation, cloud migration and platform modernisation programs across asset‑intensive and regulated industries.

Role Overview

As an Integration Architect, you will lead the architecture, design and delivery of enterprise integration solutions across cloud, hybrid and on‑premise environments. Your focus will be on enabling secure, scalable, API‑led and event‑driven integration between enterprise platforms, cloud‑native applications, SaaS products and operational systems.

You will work across AWS cloud environments, supporting integrations involving ERP, asset management platforms, GIS, IoT/telemetry systems, data platforms and external partners. The role operates at both a strategic architecture and hands‑on delivery level, contributing to national‑scale public and private sector programs.

Your role and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Integration Strategy & Architecture

  • Define enterprise integration strategies and target‑state architectures aligned to client business and transformation objectives
  • Design integration roadmaps covering cloud, hybrid and multi‑platform environments
  • Develop and maintain enterprise integration patterns, reference architectures and standards
  • Produce architecture artefacts including high‑level designs (HLDs), low‑level designs (LLDs), interface specifications and reference models
  • Participate in architecture review boards and solution assurance activities

Integration Architecture on AWS

  • Architect and deliver API‑led integration solutions using REST/JSON and modern integration principles
  • Design event‑driven architectures using messaging, streaming and asynchronous integration patterns
  • Implement secure, scalable integration platforms on AWS, leveraging:
    • API management and gateway services
    • Serverless and container‑based integration runtimes
    • Messaging and event services
  • Design and implement AWS networking patterns including VPC connectivity, private endpoints, routing and security controls
  • Embed non‑functional requirements including availability, resilience, performance, monitoring and disaster recovery

Platform & Application Integration

  • Design and deliver integrations between enterprise platforms including:
    • ERP systems
    • Asset and operational platforms
    • GIS systems
    • IoT, telemetry and OT platforms
    • Data lakes, analytics and reporting solutions
  • Enable secure external integrations with partners, vendors and third‑party services
  • Support legacy‑to‑modern integration scenarios during cloud migration and application modernisation programs

Cloud Migration, Modernisation & Enablement

  • Support enterprise migration programs by defining integration architectures for re‑host, re‑platform and re‑architect initiatives
  • Simplify and modernise integration landscapes using cloud‑native patterns
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines for integration workloads, enabling automated build, test and deployment
  • Embed DevSecOps practices across integration solutions
  • Drive observability, logging and operational health across integration platforms

Governance, Security & Standards

  • Define integration governance frameworks, standards and design guardrails
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise security, IAM, data protection and regulatory requirements
  • Apply best practices for credential management, encryption and secrets management
  • Support compliance, audit and operational readiness for integration solutions

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Act as a trusted integration advisor to executives, program leaders and delivery teams
  • Translate business and operational requirements into robust integration solutions
  • Collaborate with application, cloud, data, cybersecurity and operations teams
  • Mentor developers, engineers and junior architects in integration and cloud best practices
