Job Description

Summary

The Machine Operator (Production Equipment Operator) is responsible for the setup and operation of assigned production equipment used in the manufacture of Teledyne Advanced Electronic Solutions products. This role supports critical manufacturing operations, including SMT and related production processes, and works under the technical guidance of a Lead or more senior operator. Work is periodically reviewed for compliance with quality, safety, and production standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the role; other duties may be assigned as business needs require:

  • Perform semi‑routine machine setups and operate assigned production equipment in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Execute production tasks using process sheets, drawings, and written or verbal instructions from supervision.
  • Operate computer consoles and production software associated with manufacturing equipment.
  • Use basic measuring instruments and inspection tools to verify product quality and conformance.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report issues, defects, or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Support continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and efficiency initiatives as directed.
  • Comply with all import/export and ITAR requirements, consulting with appropriate personnel as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education or vocational training.
  • Typically requires 0–4 years of manufacturing or machine operation experience.
  • Ability to read drawings, use measuring tools, and perform basic shop math.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100 standards.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen principles.
  • Familiarity with ERP or production software systems is a plus.

Other Qualifications (Site/Program Specific)

  • U.S. Person status required for access to ITAR‑controlled technical data.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance, if applicable.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally, if required by program needs.
