Job Description:
- Schedule: Full Time: Days
- Shift 4 ten hour days, Start Time 7 am – 8 am rotating weekends
- Location: Arrive at Battalion 1 Wesley Chapel 30,000 County Line Road Wesley Chapel, FL and will take AdventHealth Vehicle to patient home
- Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes patients during transport under the direction of the medical director and EMS protocols.
- Provides direct medical care to patients during transport consistent with established EMS medical protocols and guidelines.
- Establishes and manages advanced airways via intubation, Laryngeal mask airway (LMA), and/or cricothyrotomy as approved by EMS medical protocols.
- Manages ventilators, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) during transport.
- Administers approved medications and narcotics consistent with EMS medical protocols.
- Infuses blood products consistent with EMS medical protocols.
- Performs all required procedures consistent with EMS medical protocols.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions and treatments as appropriate.
- Educates patients and family members about patient illnesses and clinical interventions.
- Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure the safety of transport team members, patients, and the public.
- Completes and submits patient care reports (ePCR) in charting software consistent with state requirements.
- Operates emergency vehicles safely in various weather and emergent conditions, communicating delays and updates to dispatch, and reporting any vehicle issues to the supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to determine the nature of patient conditions and assess whether patients have pre-existing medical conditions [Required]• Ability to identify and treat life threatening conditions within the paramedic's field of practice [Required]• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
