As a Senior Full Stack Developer – WordPress at Vistage, you’ll be a driving force behind our WordPress platform, designing and developing custom plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and complex integrations. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect, develop, and maintain scalable WordPress solutions including custom plugins and complex integrations from the ground up.
  • Design and develop custom Gutenberg blocks using React, delivering rich, interactive experiences.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and mockups into pixel-perfect, standards-compliant templates.
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services (CRM, ESB, AWS, SolR) into the WordPress ecosystem.
  • Champion performance optimization across WordPress sites: caching, database tuning, and code optimization.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across WordPress environments, identifying bottlenecks in code, queries, server configuration, and third-party integrations.
  • Design, develop, and integrate AI Agents and AI-powered workflows into WordPress platforms, leveraging APIs such as OpenAI, LangChain, or similar frameworks to automate processes and enhance user experiences.
  • Ensure security best practices are applied across WordPress installations: hardening, vulnerability scanning, and regular updates.
  • Lead and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality standards across the team.
  • Stay current with WordPress core updates, Gutenberg roadmap, and the broader web development ecosystem.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5–8 years of proven experience in full stack web development, with a strong focus on WordPress, PHP, RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Expert-level proficiency in WordPress development: custom theme development, plugin development, and the WordPress REST API.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing custom Gutenberg blocks using React and the @wordpress/block-editor toolkit.
  • Strong command of React for building dynamic, component-based UI within and outside of WordPress.
  • Expert-level skills in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3/SASS.
  • Experience extending and customizing social networking plugins such as PeepSo or BuddyPress is highly desired.
  • Solid experience with Git and collaborative Git workflows (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket).
  • Experience developing and integrating LearnDash/Grassblade/SCORM learning platforms.
  • Working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB database design, optimization, and query tuning.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting WordPress performance issues: slow queries, plugin conflicts, server-side bottlenecks, and front-end rendering problems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for WordPress (PHPUnit, JUnit).
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills — you bring solutions, not just problems.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Cloud & Hosting Platforms:

Hands-on experience managing and deploying WordPress environments on Cloudways, including environment configuration, staging workflows, CDN setup, and server-level optimizations specific to these managed hosting platforms.

DevOps & Automation:

Advanced experience with Bitbucket for automating WordPress build, test, and deployment pipelines.

Integrations:

Experience with connecting WordPress with enterprise services such as SolR, AWS and MuleSoft.

AI & Intelligent Automation:

Experience building production-ready AI Agents using LangChain, AutoGen, OpenAI Assistants API, or similar orchestration frameworks. Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, vector databases, and prompt engineering best practices within a WordPress or web-based product context.
