Job Title: Principal Oracle Exadata Migration Engineer

Type: Contract

Compensation: $81/HR

Contractor Work Model: Remote

Seeking a Principal level Oracle Exadata expert to support the migration of mission-Critical Oracle databases from on-prem Exadata to Azure hosted Exadata (Database Azure). This role owns database upgrade readiness (Oracle 19c), migration validation, and production stability, and serves as the senior technical authority working across Oracle (vendor), infrastructure, and application teams.

This is a hands on role for a senior Oracle professional who has led complex upgrades, migrations, and production cutovers and is comfortable owning outcomes in high risk environments.

What You’ll Do

• Act as the Principal technical authority for Oracle Exadata platforms (on-prem and Azure-hosted)
• Lead and support Oracle database upgrades to 19c in preparation for migrations
• Oversee and validate vendor-led Exadata migrations and production cutovers
• Partner directly with application teams to validate connectivity, performance, and functionality
• Provide deep expertise in Oracle client connectivity (JDBC, ODP.NET, OCI clients, TNS, DNS)
• Lead post-migration stabilization and troubleshoot issues across database, application, and network layers

Must Have

• 10+ years of hands-on Oracle database experience
• Deep expertise with Oracle Exadata, including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, backup/recovery, and performance tuning
• Proven experience supporting large scale Oracle migrations with production cutovers
• Strong understanding of application to Oracle connectivity and DNS/networking concepts
• Ability to operate at a Principal level, including architecture ownership and cross?team leadership

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure
• Familiarity with Oracle Exadata on Azure (Database Azure)
• Understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
