About the role

  • The Technical Program Manager will lead the process of feature and user story definition, estimation, and roadmap planning for one or more technical programs spanning multiple software releases.
  • In close collaboration with the Product Managers and Project Managers, this individual will be responsible for ensuring program feature backlogs are prioritized, researched, defined, contain mockups and/or proof of concepts as applicable, and are fully ready for transfer to the software engineering team, keeping the program funnel full and ahead of development capacity, and ensuring mockups and UX direction takes into account design feedback from key customers, Product Management, Laboratory, Engineering, and Field teams as appropriate.
  • In a fast-paced commercial environment, this individual will need a strong bias towards action and the ability to drive the extraction of required information from internal teams and customers to make informed product planning and scoping decisions, to maximize the delivery of business value in the product portfolio while ensuring features meet true customer needs. An ability to appropriately balance new product development targets and customer or internal escalations is a must.
  • The Technical Program Manager will lead internal/external demos as coordinated by Product Managers and be responsible for tracking demo feedback through backlog work items. This individual will be responsible for gap assessments of current products within the program. This individual will also be accountable for active participation in the planning and review of project requirements and testing matrices of projects affecting the overall program.
  • When new software versions under the program are released, this individual will be responsible for knowledge transfer to Product Management, Field Service, Production, and other internal teams. This individual may be called upon for participating in customer-facing voice of customer, training or training materials creation, and escalation understanding sessions. The Technical Program Manager will plan and schedule technical writing needs for the software platform with the Technical Writer role, contributing red-line documentation updates for review and inclusion by that role.
  • The Technical Program Manager will support additional R&D functions like the Research & Systems Engineering team and R&D Project Managers to bring early-stage concepts into the Project process. They will be accountable for timely and complete conversion of new product features from identified user needs and project requirements into specific and actionable Epics, Features, and User Stories for engineering teams.

What you’ll do

  • Fully lead feature and user story definition, estimation, prioritization, and roadmap planning with inputs from Product Management, Field Service, Field Applications, Lab, and Engineering teams
  • Incorporate voice of customer feedback into features and backlog
  • Transfer knowledge to development teams, support their questions throughout development cycle, and confirm development results meets stakeholder expectation
  • Demonstrate development work in progress to internal stakeholders and customers for review as planned
  • Internal team training as part of product release cycle

What we are looking for in you

  • 3-5 years of experience working within a software team as a Product Owner or alternatively 2-3 years of experience with a Master’s or equivalent degree
  • Proven track record of commercial software releases in a medical device, scientific instrument, or similar environment controlling hardware as part of an overall system
  • Experience working in a business-oriented Agile environment
  • Experience using Atlassian JIRA or similar system for backlog and sprint management
  • Understanding and practice of working in regulatory compliant environment
  • Beneficial:
    • Experience with Windows software development
    • Experience with Linux software development
    • Experience with n-tier software applications
    • Experience with laboratory applications comprised of APIs, firmware, and/or automated, robotic control, imaging, or mechanical control systems
  • Familiarity with Blood Gas Analyzers, Cell Culture Analyzers, Osmometry, Cell Line Development, or Liquid Handling workflows
