Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a Java & Database Developer to join our dynamic team, responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-grade applications and backend services. This position ensures the delivery of high-performance, scalable software solutions by integrating advanced Java development practices with expert database design and tuning. The role directly supports Synechron’s business goals of quality delivery and operational efficiency.

Software Requirements

• Required:
  • 5–7+ years hands-on professional experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA
  • Advanced proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing relational databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Practical experience with SQL, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
  • Familiarity with RESTful API development and microservices architectures
  • Unit testing and integration testing tools (JUnit, Mockito, etc.)
  • Version control using Git
  • Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Preferred:
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment frameworks
  • Familiarity with data migration and ETL tools

Overall Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications using Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA
• Architect, build, and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise platforms
• Develop advanced relational database schemas, queries, stored procedures, triggers, and other database objects
• Analyze and optimize database performance including indexing, tuning, and query optimization
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and QA professionals to finalize technical solutions and meet business requirements
• Support data migration, ETL processes, and integration with various external systems
• Implement best practices for database security and reliability
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to the team’s ongoing improvement
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance on best practices
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing

Experience Requirements

• 5–7+ years of relevant hands-on experience in Java applications and relational database development
• Experience delivering enterprise platforms and backend services in large-scale environments
• Experience participating in all stages of the software development life cycle with Agile methodologies
• Alternative backgrounds: Demonstrated record of end-to-end Java + database project delivery in high-transaction, data-driven environments

Day-to-Day Activities

• Review business and technical requirements and translate them into robust Java/database solutions
• Write, test, debug, and deploy clean, optimized Java code and complex SQL database logic
• Collaborate with team members in daily stand-ups and sprint meetings
• Participate in code and design reviews for continuous quality improvement
• Execute and refine unit tests, integration tests, and database performance tuning
• Support data migration, troubleshoot integration and ETL challenges
• Provide ongoing technical documentation and mentor team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• Preferred: Certifications in Java development, relational databases, or cloud technologies
