Senior Network Engineer

Summary

The Network Engineer role is to design, build and support any networking that is required for all self-service technology airport solutions, both the passenger operations as well as the remote support access for the Global Support team.

The technology infrastructure varies from simple VPN tunnels between the airport and the cloud, through to end-to-end business critical on premise Auto Bag Drop and Self-Service Kiosk networks such as Changi and Narita Airports.

Key accountabilities

Network Management

  • Design network and firewall infrastructure and connectivity for passenger self-service technology connectivity
  • Plan, design, install, maintain, monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, modify and support network communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability
  • Plan, design, implement and support LANs/WANs/SANs in the areas of Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security and wireless
  • Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities
  • Maintenance and patching of network and firewall infrastructure
  • Implement and enhance NextGen support for network and firewall technology including support automation, automatic alerting and integration to 3rd party tools as required
  • Ensure an appropriate level of support from 3rd parties and that support contracts are timeously renewed
  • Plan, execute and review the outcome of network failover tests

Working with others

  • Work cooperatively to achieve team goals making constructive suggestions to move things forward.
  • Build stable and useful working relationships with others outside the immediate area of work.
  • Effectively apply the required procedures and methodologies, knowledge sharing and upskilling of the network team
  • Support junior network engineers to ensure team deliverables are achieved

The ideal candidate

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking environments, ideally in mission‑critical or airport/aviation operations context

Core technical skills including

  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), QoS, ACLs.
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining LAN/WAN topologies across distributed environments.
  • Solid experience with firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco), VPNs (IPSec/SSL), IDS/IPS, segmentation, and hardening.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust concepts and secure connectivity patterns.
  • Experience with enterprise Wi‑Fi design and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP, Zabbix, PRTG, or similar.

Considered a plus

  • Azure/AWS networking fundamentals: VNet/Transit routing, ExpressRoute/VPN Gateways, Private Link/Endpoints.
  • SD‑WAN experience.
  • CCNP certification (Routing & Switching / Enterprise), CCNA or equivalent.
