Job Title: Software Engineer 3 – Core Java / React

Location: Charlotte, NC (CIC) — Zone 2

Contract Length: 6 Months (Possibility to Extend or Convert)

Work Model: 3 Days Onsite MandatoryMonday & Tuesday required

Bill Rate: $53 - $57

Top Requirements:

  1. 5–7 years of Java Engineering experience
  2. Strong Core Java backend development
  3. Experience with React (front-end support for migration)
  4. Hands-on experience in REST API development and backend services
  5. Ability to work on large, complex legacy applications
  6. Experience working in Agile/Kanban environments
  7. Recent hands-on coding experience (not moved into PM roles)

Nice to Have:

  1. Experience with Java Server Faces (JSF)
  2. Experience with large modernization efforts
  3. Experience working with AI-assisted code conversion
  4. Familiarity with collections or loan servicing systems

Job Summary:

The Software Engineer 3 will support a legacy collections application currently undergoing modernization from Java Server Faces (JSF) to React, while maintaining and enhancing Core Java backend logic. This engineer will work as part of a 10‑person team supporting a large, complex enterprise application undergoing multi-phase migration. The role requires strong backend Java skills, familiarity with React, and comfort working in a Kanban environment delivering quarterly releases. The engineer will contribute to modernizing the UI, supporting backend services, and completing engineering tasks in a fast‑paced and evolving environment.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance backend services using Core Java
  • Support front-end modernization from JSF → React
  • Maintain and troubleshoot code for a large legacy collections application
  • Participate in quarterly release cycles (with occasional Saturday deployments)
  • Work in a Kanban workflow within a 10‑member engineering team
  • Collaborate with team members on architecture, problem‑solving, and modernization tasks
  • Support AI-assisted code conversion components of the project
  • Write clean, maintainable code and follow enterprise standards and guidelines
  • Support production fixes and assist in vulnerability remediation
  • Participate in team discussions, planning, and technical design reviews

Pay Range:

$53 - $57 per hour
