The Financial Technology Group (FTG) is a cohesive team of dedicated and enthusiastic software and quality assurance engineers, further supported by hands-on managers, local IT professionals, and dedicated dev-ops.

Our long-term responsibilities and innovative efforts are concentrated on the ownership, development, and operation of three key platforms: GridStep (for grid computing), Hedge Ops (an enterprise reporting and workflow solution), and RISE (Retirement Income Security Evaluation). These platforms serve as the technological foundation for our consulting and managed services offerings, and are leveraged by clients, colleagues, and partners.
The Role
This role involves full-stack development, delivery of FTG platforms, and customized client solutions. You will collaborate with team members, conduct research, and contribute to design and system architecture sessions as directed by your supervisor.
Responsibilities include coding and unit-testing core platform functionality, documenting solutions for end-users and technologists, and providing support to users. Expertise in front-end and back-end technologies, modern frameworks, and the ability to follow best practices is essential.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Regularly collaborating with your team members conducting relevant research, development, and sharing findings.
- Contributing to design and systems architecture sessions, as directed by the Software Engineering Lead.
- Coding and unit-testing core platform functionality in accordance with our SDLC.
- Contributing to documentation for end-users and other technologists subject to supervisor review.
- Rendering support to internal users.
Job Knowledge, Experience Skills
Job Knowledge Required:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree
- 3-5+ years of professional experience minimum
- Experience in C#
- Knowledge of software development life cycles, methodologies and best practices
- Familiarity with implementation of web APIs (HTTP/S protocol, REST, authentication, etc.)
- Familiarity with relational database schema and efficient query construction
- Familiarity with Javascript-based web frameworks
Experience and Soft Skills Required:
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstration of consistent positive collaboration with peers and/or customers
- Recognition and adherence to standards of professionalism (e.g., reliability, timeliness, courtesy, etc.)
Additional Knowledge and Skills to Build:
- History integrating with one or more cloud vendors (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.)
- Competencies in Windows
- Familiarity with issue-tracking and related SDLC tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Build confidence in completing tasks autonomously.
- Develop the ability to collaborate with peers and/or customers.
- Build the expertise on integrating functionality from platform-related technologies.
Location
This position is based out of the Milliman office in Chicago, IL. Candidates hired into this role must be willing to work onsite full-time. The expected application deadline for this job is April 30th, 2026.
Compensation
The overall salary range for this role is $90,620 - $145,130. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
