Join our dynamic team as a Plans Examiner where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of construction projects within our communities. As a meticulous and detail-oriented professional, you will conduct thorough reviews of building and construction plans ensuring compliance with relevant building codes, ordinances, and regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and structural design principles. The Plan Check Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining safety standards and ensuring that all construction projects meet established codes and standards.
1. Review construction plans, specifications, and calculations for compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other applicable standards.
2. Evaluate structural integrity, fire & life safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency of proposed building designs.
3. Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve plan deficiencies and provide technical guidance.
4. Prepare detailed reports outlining review findings, code violations, and recommended corrections.
5. Participate in meetings and consultations with internal staff and external stakeholders to discuss project requirements and review processes.
6. Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure accurate structural plan assessments.
7. Collaborate with other departments, to address interdisciplinary aspects of plan reviews.
8. Interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders, fostering positive and cooperative working relationships and promoting a culture of compliance and safety.
9. Perform assigned duties within the supported agency’s guidance, culture, and approach.
10. Other duties as assigned.
