Job Description

Payroll Specialist – Join Our Payroll Shared Services Team!

Are you detail oriented, customer focused, and energized by solving problems? Payroll Shared Services is looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across all University of Missouri System campuses—including MU, UM System, UMSL, S&T, and UMKC.

What You’ll Do

• Be the first line of support for the Payroll Shared Services resource account, responding to a wide range of employee inquiries—from timesheet troubleshooting to missing direct deposits.
• Use your judgment to know when to escalate issues and where to route non payroll questions.
• Process biweekly monthly payrolls accurately and on schedule, including reviewing payroll and Time & Labor reports and assisting departments during processing weeks.
• Handle off cycle payroll tasks, such as off cycle payments, overpayment calculations, Marketplace reconciliations, and manual check processing.
• Enter and maintain payroll and deduction data, ensuring accuracy and completeness while managing documents through imaging workflows.
• Work ACH returns, including communicating with employees and processing related vouchers.
• Support the larger University Shared Services team through other payroll related duties as assigned.

• Experience in payroll, finance, or HR systems is a plus

Shift

8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Grade: GGS 007
