Processing Material Handler III Job Description

Position Overview

The Processing Material Handler III is responsible for obtaining and transporting materials to various production areas, including roasting, hot and cold panning, chocolate, granola, and manual mixing lines. This position also manages unused materials, scans items into work orders, updates the QAD system, stores products in warehouse coolers, and allocates them to appropriate locations. The role requires proficiency in operating stand-up and sit-down forklifts and completing work order reporting as needed.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

The following duties are performed regularly to ensure operational efficiency:

Function

Drives stand-up and/or sit-down forklift to transport product and supplies to and from production lines. Also performs Material Handler I duties when required

Creates pallet ID labels, verifies all materials/products prior to use, and completes work order reporting as needed

Performs daily check of PIT equipment to ensure safety

Ensures accurate use and proper care of hand-held scanning equipment

Assists other material handlers/scanners and helps train MH1s, MH2s, and MH3s on job duties at the line

Supports machine operators and supervisors by assisting with packing, stacking, and other duties as required

Maintains clean work area by participating in daily cleaning activities

Ensures compliance with food safety and quality standards, including HACCP, FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements

Documents and maintains preventative controls for food safety and quality

Reports food safety and quality issues to management immediately

Collaborates with team members to share knowledge and improve processes

Enhances technical and functional competencies through professional development

Complies with workplace safety policies and procedures

Supports a safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting hazards, and conducting safety observations

Qualifications

Education, Experience, & Knowledge

  • Not specified.

Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations

  • Forklift driving license or certification (stand-up forklifts).
  • Level III power equipment license (JBSS) required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English (preferred).
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong manual dexterity and vision.
  • Ability to continuously lift and move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 60 pounds.
