We build and maintain the Optum Tech Financial System (OTFIN) which is a suite of applications for Optum Tech Finance to track costs by department for hardware and software maintenance contracts, hardware and software capital purchases, and labor. This system was developed to eliminate the need for tracking data in spreadsheets, ensures data quality by reducing manual input errors, helps bring better visibility to costs by department, and streamlines the quarterly budget forecasting process.

Ideal Background: A finance/accounting background would be a bonus, but otherwise the skills listed are the most important.

Primary Responsibilities:

• This is a Software Engineering role requiring the development and on-going maintenance of systems built on Angular 18+, Node.js 20+, .NET C# 8+, SQL Server 2019+, and MySQL v8+. This involves:
  • Participation in Daily Standup & Grooming meetings
  • Developing software and unit tests
  • Testing manually testing code before creating a pull request
  • Pair-program with other engineers as necessary
  • Review pull requests submitted by other engineers
  • Collaborate on new design ideas
  • Address support issues and resolve bugs
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

• TypeScript/JavaScript skills, ideally using Angular v18+ and Node.js v20+ (5+ years)
• Solid SQL skills using MS SQL Server v2019+ & MySQL v8+ (5 years)
• .NET C# skills, ideally using .NET v8+ (5 years)
• Experience with Angular 18+, Node.js 20+, & .NET 8+
• Solid JavaScript, TypeScript, & C# skills
• Git source control skills
• GitHub Actions development skills
• Kubernetes skills
• Solid SQL skills, working with relational database platforms such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Development skill level and experience
• Creativity - ability to propose solutions options for complex and sometimes ambiguous problems
• Solid communication - ability to communicate and collaborate well with other team members
