Job Description

Location:

New York, NY

Overview

Based in our New York office, you will work on a wide variety of projects for advertisers and the full portfolio of Condé Nast brands, with a priority focus on design work with Vogue, GQ and Vanity Fair. Reporting to the Executive Creative Director, you will work as a part of a specialized creative team within the Creative Studio, collaborating regularly with marketing and sales stakeholders. The Designer is responsible for the production of all graphic design materials, working on projects under the guidance of creative directors and design directors within the commercial team—from print ad layouts, to custom digital features, GFX treatments for video, and sponsored event collateral.

The successful candidate will bring a passion for craft and typography, generating imaginative ideas across all formats. With a strong sense of visual storytelling—through a blend of conceptual thinking, visual hierarchies, editorial layout, and motion design—you will express a distinct point of view that helps bring bold work to life for our commercial partners. You will also ensure a smooth, efficient process across projects while upholding Condé Nast’s brand voice and design standards.

While the key focus of this role will be on graphic design for the fashion, luxury, and beauty categories, the ideal candidate will be well-rounded and have demonstrated their multidimensional design skills across a variety of industries (technology, automotive and travel). We are looking for someone who is an out-of-the-box thinker who can connect the dots culturally to deliver work that resonates.

Individual & Team Responsibilities

  • Translate fashion and luxury category brand briefs into compelling design concepts for commercial work with an editorial sensibility.
  • Responsible for the creation of multi-platform design executions across print and digital (editorial print layouts, print production, type treatments, event collateral, social, video GFX, etc).
  • Create visually impactful materials for presentations (conceptual overviews, moodboards, talent references, digital mock-ups, motion references & direction etc) while upholding brand guidelines for both Condé Nast and client brands.
  • Set and maintain design standards across production to ensure alignment with Condé Nast and client expectations.
  • Anticipate and interpret trends in fashion, luxury, art, and culture to inform a cohesive design language.
  • Partner with art directors, editors, creative directors, and marketing leads to shape integrated campaigns that achieve business goals.
  • Deep knowledge of fashion history, luxury aesthetics, and emerging cultural touchpoints for luxury consumers.
  • Nurture relationships with cross-functional teams and provide the appropriate commercial perspective when collaborating with editorial teams.
  • Contribute to a team culture of creative risk-taking and outside-the-box thinking.

Note: to be considered for this position you should provide links to your portfolio and relevant design work as part of your application.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • 4+ years professional experience in design teams within media, fashion brands, or premium creative agencies.
  • Strong visual presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in-office in NYC 4 days per week.
  • Excellent ability in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Slides, and Figma
  • Ability to translate and present visual concepts through the creation of treatment decks.
  • Strong passion for current design trends with a focus on typography, layout, and design systems.
  • A portfolio demonstrating an ambitious body of work with a strong emphasis on design for editorial and fashion campaigns.
  • Passion for and/or previous experience in the fashion & luxury industry.
  • Motion design, 3D, HTML/CSS familiarity, and video editing skills are nice-to-have, but should have some familiarity with the respective workflows.
  • Highly organized, with an acute attention to detail and skilled with time-management and workload prioritization.
  • Passionate about brands, ideas, stories, design, and experiences with a strong cultural point of view and the ability to translate it into impactful brand campaigns.
  • Knowledge of new media and A.I. is a plus.
