Key Responsibilities

Employees may be assigned to assembly, warehouse, or floating to support duties based on operational needs.

  • ASSEMBLY & PRODUCTION SUPPORT
    • Assemble products and sub-assemblies according to work instructions, prints, and quality standards.
    • Use hand tools, fixtures, and basic equipment to complete assigned assembly operations.
    • Perform visual and basic functional quality checks to ensure product conformity.
    • Identify and report defects, quality issues, or nonconforming materials.
    • Maintain accurate documentation related to production activities.
  • WAREHOUSE & MATERIAL HANDLING
    • Receive, move, stage, and issue materials throughout the facility
    • Support production lines with timely delivery of materials and components.
    • Perform inventory transactions and basic material tracking
    • Operate material handling equipment as required
  • SAFETY & HOUSEKEEPING
    • Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures
    • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety within work areas.
    • Participate in safety, quality, and operational initiatives as required.

Pay & Benefits

  • Initial Pay: $18.85 (for up to 150 days)
  • Conversion: Immediate conversion to LG4 at 80% of the applicable rate ($27.75) if the project extends beyond 150 days.
  • Benefits: Eligible for Xylem Benefits consistent with Morton Grove Local 890
  • Overtime: As needed, with opportunity available per business demand and CBA
  • Shift Premium: $1.20

Internal Bidding & Recall Rights

  • Employees hired into this project will not be eligible to bid on internal positions during the initial 150 day project period.
  • If positions are eliminated following project review, CBA layoff and recall provisions will apply, including first recall rights to future external postings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain required

Experience

  • Six to Twelve (6-12) months of experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment is desirable.
  • Previous experience in assembly, production or mechanical work preferred, but entry level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Reliable, safe-conscious, and able to work well in a team setting.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in a manufacturing or plant environment with exposure to temperature variations, noise, dust, oils, chemicals, and moving machinery.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as directed.
