Key Responsibilities

INSPECTION & VERIFICATION

  • Inspect raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, and finished assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Plan inspection methods and perform a wide variety of gauging set-ups to identify nonconformance's at incoming, in-process, and final inspection stages.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, final, and sample inspections to verify product compliance prior to release to the next operation or to stock.

MEASUREMENT & METROLOGY

  • Use a wide range of precision measuring instruments including CMMs, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gage blocks, indicators, meters, and surface plates.
  • Select appropriate measurement tools based on tolerance requirements and inspection characteristics.
  • Perform layout inspections using surface plate techniques to verify geometric characteristics such as angularity, concentricity, parallelism, and perpendicularity.

DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING

  • Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and GD&T requirements.
  • Verify certification documentation for materials requiring certification and report discrepancies to supervision.
  • Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports documenting inspection results, deviations, and nonconformance's.
  • Maintain organized inspection records and documentation in accordance with ISO and internal quality systems.

QUALITY SUPPORT & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Apply statistical sampling plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and geometric tolerancing logic during inspections.
  • Assist production personnel with inspections requirements, measurement techniques, and quality standards as needed.
  • Notify supervision promptly of non-conforming material, product defects, shortages, or equipment issues.
  • Support Materials Disposition activities, including identification and confirmation of nonconforming material when required.

EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Set production and inspection gages for personal or shared use.
  • Perform minor gage adjustment or coordinate calibration, cleaning, or repair through the Metrology Lab as required.
  • Maintain gauging, equipment, and work areas using 5S and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Move materials using hand powered equipment as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Trade School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Successful completion of inspection qualification testing required.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an inspector in machining or manufacturing environment or
  • 1 year of experience as a machine operator responsible for performing inspections Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Blueprint and drawing interpretation
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Dimensional Metrology
  • ISO 9001 quality systems
  • Proficiency in computer navigation and Microsoft Office Tools

Rate of pay: $31.56 (full scale) (individuals will come in at 80% for the 1st year = $25.25) (90% the 2nd year of service) (100% start of year 3) with additional yearly raises per the CBA.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in manufacturing or warehouse environment with exposure to temperature extremes, noise, dust, and moving machinery.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as directed.
  • Must be able to work various shifts or overtime as needed to support production
