This role is onsite 5 days per week in downtown Austin, TX. Candidates must be local.
Role Overview
A large, complex organization is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to design, develop, and support enterprise web-based applications. This role focuses on modernizing and enhancing mission-critical systems, including the migration of legacy functionality to modern platforms while ensuring data integrity, security, and scalability.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior developer who can operate independently, lead technical efforts across the SDLC, and collaborate closely with analysts, architects, and business stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform advanced, senior-level software development across the full SDLC
- Design and implement software solutions by analyzing user needs, system workflows, data usage, and business processes
- Investigate complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis
- Design system specifications, development standards, and technical architectures
- Write, test, debug, and document complex client/server and web-based applications
- Develop and enhance front-end and back-end functionality using modern web technologies
- Build and maintain secure, scalable, and user-friendly applications
- Collaborate with systems analysts, architects, and business teams to gather and validate requirements
- Model technical solutions that meet functional, technical, and security requirements
- Support and maintain existing application environments, including troubleshooting and production support
- Lead or support modernization efforts, including migrating legacy functionality to updated platforms while ensuring seamless data portability
- Conduct research and analysis to recommend improvements to application design and development processes
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, validation, and mentorship of other developers
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, release notes, and change records
- Participate in Agile development processes and release planning
- Present application changes and enhancements to stakeholders for review and approval
- Perform other duties as assigned
Technical Environment (Representative)
- Languages/Frameworks: C#, .NET, .NET Core, Blazor, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
- Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, SQL, Stored Procedures
- Tools: Visual Studio, DevOps or issue-tracking platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira)
- Methodologies: Agile / SDLC best practices
- Focus Areas: Web-based enterprise applications, system modernization, security-aware development
Skills & Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
- 8+ years of senior-level experience analyzing and improving software application workflows
- 8+ years of experience performing root cause analysis and issue resolution
- 8+ years leading the design and development of web-based applications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with modern programming languages and frameworks, including front-end and back-end technologies
- 8+ years independently performing complex SDLC activities across all phases
- 8+ years of experience administering and managing software applications
- 8+ years leading SDLC initiatives from scope through deployment, including release coordination and change control
- 6+ years working within Agile development methodologies
- 6+ years collaborating across teams for requirements gathering, development, enhancements, and maintenance
- 5+ years implementing application changes to meet information security and network security requirements
- 5+ years leading development teams, including code reviews and approval
- 5+ years producing technical documentation and release materials
- 5+ years presenting application changes or demos to stakeholders
- 4+ years using DevOps or work-tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira)
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using C# .NET Blazor
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating or porting legacy codebases to modern .NET / Blazor frameworks
- Knowledge of responsive web design principles and implementation
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG)
- Prior experience supporting large, regulated, or public-sector application environments
