About the role

The forklift/material handler is responsible for safely removing finished pallets from production lines and transporting them to designated warehouse locations. The role includes scanning completed pallets into the inventory system using an RF scanner to ensure accurate tracking. The forklift/material handler also supports production by replenishing materials and supplies to the lines as needed to maintain continuous workflow. A forklift operator could also be assigned the responsibility of loading orders on trucks to be sent to our customers

Responsibilities

Safety & Environmental Performance

Use of horn, strobe lights, and general safety precautions to prevent injuries

Retrain on all forklift equipment periodically or as needed

Following all GMP policies and procedures including safety glasses, seatbelts, etc.

Identify high-risk safety/productivity issues and help to remedy them.

Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.

Encourage employees to look for ways to improve safety and production processes.

Prevent injuries by encouraging employees to work safely

Work Requirements

Drive forklift throughout the floor to pick up packaged pallets of product and bring them into the warehouse

Drive the super sacks from the line to the warehouse and wrap them for storage and transportation

Wrap the cases on a pallet from the shortening line and then drive them to the appropriate section of storage

Pull orders to fit customer needs

Load trucks

Move product to create space for inventory

Operate hand held scanner to pull customer orders

Operate scanners

Help in Receiving as needed

Cost Control

Always looking for new ways to save the company money

Reduce the amount of rework by participating in employee involvement, process improvement and adherence to process guidelines

Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in your daily work

About you

High school diploma/GED

Basic computer skills

3 + years’ experience operating a forklift in warehouse environment

Ability to operate a handheld scanner
