Job Summary
This position is a unionized role as part of our production team. As a Batch Maker you will be required to learn, understand and put into practice all of our policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with minimal supervision, independently and in a team with another operator. You must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties. No travel is required for this position.
Shift schedule: 11pm to 7am
Rate: $20.32

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work safely and follow all applicable health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure your work area is clean & safe.
- Controls one or more processing units or inter-related semi-automatic or automatic systems
- Monitors gauges, signal records and observes colour changes in product to ascertain reaction rates
- Performs chemical or other physical testing during product processing
- Records data on batch cards and follow QC procedures
- Troubleshooting and routine maintenance of process equipment
- Bulk loading and unloading, and inventory control of raw materials
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency in achieving results
- Any other duties assigned by lead hand and/or management
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Mathematically skilled to operate in volumetric and mass calculations
- Knowledge of Spill clean-up and WHMIS/GIS procedures
- Some experience using hazardous, flammable and explosive materials.
- Knowledge on how to use/follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prior forklift experience is a plus. • Flexibility to work overtime, evenings or nights.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess effective written and oral communication skills
- Capable of following Batch Cards, Work Orders, Environmental, Health & Safety Policies/Procedures and Quality Procedures.
- Capable of lifting 50lbs.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used:
- Eye and hearing protection is always required on the production floor.
- Safety shoes (steel/composite) on the production floor.
- Other PPE as defined by management within assigned department
.Education and Experience:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED is Preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
- Hours worked vary based on shift schedule and business volume.
- Flexible to the possibility of overtime and weekend hours when required.
- Heavy, stationary machinery on the manufacturing floor.
