Role: Slalom Flex (Project Based) – Project/Program Manager (AI Product Integration)

Location: Denver, Colorado

  • Please note: This role is not eligible for remote work. Employees must live within a commutable distance of the South Denver/DTC area and be able to be onsite 4 days per week*

Who You’ll Work With

Our teams help organizations of all kinds redefine what’s possible, give shape to the future – and get there. We focus on high-impact projects, meeting our clients where they are to uncover business needs and deliver results. Our teams go beyond the expected to help clients move confidently through ambiguity and risk and drive more transformative outcomes.

The Project/Program Manager with strong product management skills and working knowledge of AI will lead an end-to-end initiative: evaluate multiple AI tools, select the best fit, and integrate the winner into a production product. This role is hands on and autonomous - ideal for a consultant who thrives in ambiguity, influences without daily guidance, is excited to continue deepening their AI experience, and who drives measurable outcomes across an organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Own delivery end-to‑end: Define the program plan, stand up governance, run execution, and deliver integration with minimal day-to‑day direction.
  • Shape the problem & product direction: Translate business objectives into clear product outcomes, success metrics (OKRs), and scope; demonstrate Product management/evaluation background and experience (e.g., ability to author PRDs/briefs and maintain a prioritized backlog).
  • Drive AI tool integration evaluation:
    • Establish evaluation criteria (e.g., fit to use case, accuracy/quality, latency/throughput, cost, security/compliance, data residency, observability, guardrails, IP/indemnity, vendor support & roadmap).
    • Present results and a recommendation with trade‑offs, then secure stakeholder decision/approval.
  • Lead integration to product:
    • Partner with engineering to design integration (APIs, events/streams, fallbacks, prompt/parameter management, evaluation loops, telemetry), as needed.
    • Manage UAT, safety reviews, and launch readiness (PII handling, prompt injection‑ defenses, abuse monitoring, content policies).
    • Stand up observability and continuous evaluation (quality dashboards, cost & performance monitoring, human-in‑the‑loop feedback).
    • Drive rollout planning and change management plan with end users.
  • Program leadership & stakeholder management:
    • Run cadence (standups, demos, steering), RAID/decision logs, change control, vendor coordination, and executive updates.
    • Drive cross functional‑ alignment across Product, Eng, Data/ML, Security/Privacy, Legal, Support, and Customer teams.
  • Operationalize and handoff: Define support model, playbooks/runbooks, SLAs, rollback/fallback mechanisms, and training for product & operations teams.

What You’ll Bring

  • 7–10+ years leading complex software projects/programs (multiteam, cross‑ functional, vendor components) with hands‑ on‑ product management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead autonomously – setting direction, making decisions, and removing blockers without day to‑ ‑day task guidance.
  • Practical understanding of modern AI application patterns (prompting, grounding/RAG, evaluation metrics, safety & guardrails, cost/performance trade‑offs).
  • Experience defining tool/model evaluation frameworks and communicating evidence based‑ recommendations to executives.
  • Strong technical fluency with APIs, cloud services, data flows, and SDLC; comfortable partnering deeply with engineers and data/ML practitioners.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership; proven consulting presence.
  • Exposure to one or more enterprise AI platforms (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Google Vertex AI/Gemini, AWS Bedrock), vector databases, or observability/evaluation tools.
  • Background in product discovery, experiment design (A/B, offline/online eval), and telemetry driven decision‑ making‑.
  • Familiarity with Responsible AI practices (privacy, security, compliance, bias testing, data retention, and red teaming‑).
  • Consulting experience and a proactive mindset.
