Role Purpose
To support the Surety Underwriting team in the analysis, evaluation, and monitoring of surety risks, ensuring compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards. The role contributes to the accurate assessment of financial, contractual, and operational risks, while delivering timely and service-oriented support to internal and external stakeholders, under supervision.
Support to brokers and internal teams, assisting in the evaluation and issuance of surety bonds while developing technical expertise in risk assessment, compliance, and portfolio monitoring, under defined authority levels.
Key Responsabilities
- Underwrite risk information to determine risk acceptability and communicate resulting decisions
- Recap major goals and outcomes from the prior week: what did we win, lose and why?
- Evaluate the pipeline of new accounts and broker/ client meetings
- Provide constructive ideas to improve the underwriting process and operating
- Provide production results overall against plan prior year, and by individual producer, monthly and YTD
- Correct financial and technical underwriting under the guideline of company
- Discuss market conditions and competitor actions
- Assist manager in mapping his business to achieve better bound to submitted ratios
- Track current pricing levels against minimum required pricing levels
- Review successes and opportunities seen in other areas that could apply for your area
- Assist in the review and analysis of financial statements and supporting documentation
- Support the underwriting process for surety bonds in accordance with established authority levels
- Ensure attention to detail in documentation, contracts, and compliance requirements
- Monitor exposure, limits, and risk concentration
- Support renewals, endorsements, and ongoing risk follow-up
- Maintain accurate records and underwriting files
- Collaborate with brokers, clients, and internal teams to ensure timely and compliant service delivery
- Periodically review the delinquency of the assigned portfolio and define actions to improve it
Knowledge
- Professional level (Bachelor’s degree/Licentiate) completed or in progress, preferably in Law, Engineering, Business Administration, and/or Finance
- Financial analysis
- Ability to work under minimal supervision. Requires sound independent judgment and high level of accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft (Word and Excel). Advance computer knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Spanish and Basic English)
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members

Experience
- 3 years or more of experience in positions related to surety underwriting
- Experience in the insurance sector and/or a brokerage or reinsurance company,
