Akkodis is seeking a Postgres DBA for a Contract with a client in Austin, TX(Hybrid). Candidate must have deep expertise in PostgreSQL architecture and proven experience with backup/recovery strategies and version upgrades.

Rate Range: $55/hour to $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Postgres DBA job responsibilities include:

  • Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting (CPU load, locks, blocking, long-running queries).
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies, including logical/physical backups and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
  • Perform PostgreSQL version upgrades (minor and major) and ensure smooth migration processes.
  • Configure and optimize PostgreSQL parameters, system catalogs, and performance views for high availability and scalability.
  • Set up and manage replication and high-availability solutions, leveraging tools like Repmgr, Pgpool, and pgBackRest.
  • Automate database tasks using scripting languages (Shell/Python) and support cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments on AWS or GCP.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration.
  • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and hands-on experience with backup/recovery strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
  • Proven expertise in high-availability solutions, replication, and PostgreSQL version upgrades.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $60.00 per hour
