Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Buildings (DOB) in the Office of the Director. The mission of DOB is to protect the health, safety, economic interests, and quality of life of residents, businesses, and visitors in the District of Columbia by issuing permits, conducting inspections, enforcing building, housing, and safety codes, and regulating land use and development. Incumbent is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and improving the efficiency of internal operations and administrative management, and for planning, managing, and supervising the efficiency of the daily operations of various projects and programs for the Office of the Director. Incumbent serves as a liaison to the various DOB Divisions and is charged with delivering and executing special projects that support the Agency's goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Plans, coordinates, and monitors a broad range of special projects, particularly those that are large/ multi-tier and complex in nature, from inception to completion, continuously evaluating project progress and adjusting as required. Assists in the development of best practices, proposed projects plan, and timetables. Oversees the design and compilation of division performance measures and other data as needed for both internal and external requests. Ensures process consistency, customer satisfaction and on-going identification and implementation of efficiency and effectiveness. Identifies necessary improvements to existing processes which support division and agency goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Education

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Promotion Potential: No known promotion potential.

Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under a collective bargaining unit.

Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Security Sensitive.
