This role sits at the core of our Data & Analytics organization, a team dedicated to transforming how data empowers decision-making across the company. Our mission is to democratize data— as a product to enable cross-functional teams and leaders to make confident, data-driven decisions that impact more than 18,000 coffeehouse leaders.

The work is split into two key areas:

  • Focused on decision science & data democratization &, creating accessible, reliable, and actionable insights (50%)
  • Driving innovation through AI and BI trends, accelerating our journey toward data modernization (50%)

What You’ll Do

As a Sr. Decision Science Product Owner, you will lead the vision and execution of data-driven products and AI-enabled solutions that empower enterprise decision-making. This role blends product strategy, decision science, and modern analytics to deliver measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Strategy (50%)

  • Define and drive product vision for Decision Science and AI enablement initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into actionable product roadmaps with clear success metrics.
  • Create executive-level presentations and strategic narratives to influence stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Product) to align strategies and deliver outcomes.
  • Decision Science & AI Enablement (50%)
  • Analyze data to deliver actionable insights for supply growth and program design (SQL, Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy).
  • Perform quantitative analyses to identify opportunities and build investment cases (Python, R, ML & Statistical Modeling).
  • Establish reporting cadence, monitor KPIs, and share updates with stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI/BI trends to accelerate data modernization efforts (Generative AI, Augmented Analytics).
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to enable AI-driven insights and modern BI capabilities (Cloud Platforms: Azure, APIs).

We’d love to hear from people with...

  • Experience: 5+ years in analytics, decision science, or product strategy roles.
  • Education: BA/BS in business or quantitative discipline (Stats, Math, Comp Sci, Engineering, Econ); Masters preferred.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with an executive presence.
  • Proven ability to drive projects from concept to impact in ambiguous environments.
  • Technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern BI tools; familiarity with AI/ML concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating AI-driven insights into dashboards, semantic models, or data marts.
  • Expertise advanced AI techniques and building AI-orchestrated pipelines for complex data analysis.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
