Why does the job exist?

The Senior Healthcare Program Coordinator will:

  • Uphold the rights of individuals, families, and guardians to a fair hearing, in full compliance with state (NMAC) and federal (CFR) regulations.

How does it get done?

The Senior Healthcare Program Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Supporting the DDSD Fair Hearings Unit by coordinating hearing requests between various DDSD Bureaus, and claimants;
  • Managing the hearing process which includes issuing notices, maintaining complex calendars, and compiling comprehensive "Summary of Evidence" packets;
  • Coordinating Agency Review Conferences (ARCs) where the incumbent assists in drafting and disseminating ARC letters within regulatory timelines;
  • Calling into fair hearings, and coordinating with the Office of General Counsel when claimants have legal representation;
  • Conducting face-to-face visits with waiver recipients to promote health, wellness, and self-direction;
  • Protecting the wellbeing of those served;
  • Documenting and reporting concerns.

Incumbent will assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and guardians throughout New Mexico.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is:

  • Organized and dependable and able to multi-task and meet deadlines in accordance with law and other litigation related requirements.

Minimum Qualification

Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Finance, or a related field and two (2) years of experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, providing or requesting information from the general public, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certificate as a condition of continued employment within 45 days of employment. Travel may be required with some occasional overnight stays. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
