Job Description

Minor Hotels is seeking an experienced and strategic to National Manager, Workplace Health & Safety (ANZ) to lead and embed a best-practice health, safety and wellbeing framework across the organisation’s Australia and New Zealand portfolio. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring legislative compliance, robust safety systems, and a proactive safety culture across 65+ properties and more than 2,800 team members.

Based in our Brisbane Head Office, this role reports directly to the Head of People and takes full responsibility for the organisation’s WHS strategy across all hotels and corporate operations in ANZ. Working closely with Hotel General Managers, operational leaders, and senior stakeholders, you will provide expert advice, governance, and leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and wellbeing outcomes across the group.

  • The role includes regular travel across Australia and New Zealand, typically up to 3–4 days per month, to support hotel operations, engage leaders, and embed WHS initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the strategic Health, Safety and Wellbeing plan across ANZ, embedding a strong and proactive safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with Australian and New Zealand WHS legislation, codes of practice, and internal governance requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain WHS management systems, policies, and risk frameworks
  • Oversee incident management, audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive WHS capability through training, coaching, and engagement with leaders and teams
  • Manage workers’ compensation, injury management, return-to-work programs, and third-party providers
  • Provide strategic WHS advice, assurance, and Board-level reporting to senior leadership
  • Lead wellbeing initiatives, including psychosocial risk management, aligned to organisational priorities
  • Manage WHS budgets, performance reporting, and sustainable financial outcomes

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior WHS leadership role within complex, multi-site operations
  • Demonstrated experience leading a WHS function across Australia and New Zealand
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulatory standards, and safety management systems
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and team members, and drive cultural change
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including at Board and Executive level
  • Return to Work and/or ICAM accreditation is desirable
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in WHS, Safety, or a related HR discipline is essential
