Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Java Production Support Engineer to ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical Java-based applications in a fast-paced enterprise environment. This role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues while driving automation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in Java technologies with problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of ITIL processes to maintain seamless operations and minimize downtime.

About the role

As a Java Production Support Engineer, you will be responsible for end-to-end support of Java applications in production. Your day-to-day activities will include monitoring system health, analyzing logs and metrics, debugging application issues, and collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents quickly. You will also contribute to root cause analysis, implement automation to reduce manual effort, and ensure compliance with security and operational best practices. This role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to improving system reliability and efficiency.

In this role, you will:

A Production Support Engineer ensures smooth operations of live systems by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues, acting as a bridge between users, development, and operations teams, focusing on stability, performance, and continuous improvement through root cause analysis, automation, and documentation to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.

Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Plano, TX. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.

What you need to have to be considered:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering,
  • 10+ years in IT support, customer service, or technical support
  • Experience with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
  • Proficient in Java and any frontend technologies (ReactJS / Angular JS / Vue), SQL, Scripting (Python, PowerShell), AWS.
  • Software/Applications: Support tools (ServiceNow, Jira).

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until January 18th , 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 - $90,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
