This position is located in the of the Standards and Compliance Unit of the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles and is responsible for activities related to achieving and maintaining the licensing, certification, and accreditation of the Home; to assure compliance with other applicable standards of quality of care; to integrate these activities with other facility-wide quality assurance activities; and to do other related work.

Working Conditions

Graduate Student Assistants are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The employee will receive an hourly conpensation based on the number of hours worked.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Interest and aptitude in the work; willingness to do routine work in order to learn; high ethics and moral standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field, or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Previous work experience in a healthcare, compliance and/or quality assurance preferred.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills to effectively and accurately conduct research and analysis, as well as organization of complex data.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage fluctuating workload demands.
  • Must be will to work a minimum of twenty (hours) per week.
