DESCRIPTION:

Self-directed professional with the knowledge and experience to work effectively in the field with learning support teachers, assess program quality and provide feedback to supervisors in order to sustain and develop high quality programs and practices. Design and implementation of staff-development sessions. Support teachers in program planning, IEP development, technology application and classroom management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (List is not all-inclusive):

1. Teacher Support

  • Coaching and Modeling of current instructional, social/emotional programs and lesson plan design with intensive support for new teachers
  • Developing a framework for organization and management of the learning support classroom including effective use of para professionals
  • Problem solving to meet the needs of the multiple learning profiles and social/emotional weaknesses of students within the present-day learning support programs
  • Supporting the IEP process to include the development, implementation and progress monitoring of individualized educational programs
  • Support technology implementation and application in order to support instructional program planning and participation in teaching-learning process.

2. Program Development

  • Staying current in research based best practices for all students serviced in the learning support program
  • Assessing and responding to needs within the instructional program
  • Spearhead multi-year instructional initiatives
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of current programs through data collection and analysis
  • Coordinating and utilizing in district and out of district resources
  • 3. Staff DevelopmentProvide staff development to special education teachers and para professionals based on Supervisor direction
  • Provide training, support and feedback to teachers with Orton-Gillingham methodology and instructional practices
  • Generate and provide staff development in programs and protocols that are standard to the general education and special education settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for BCBA position (Not an all-inclusive list):

  • Conduct and manage Functional Behavioral Assessments, including observations, behavioral data and interview.
  • Create and/or assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Design data collection instruments and implement data collection procedures.
  • Provide staff development for individual student plans, behavior management strategies, general training on positive behavioral outcomes for professional and support staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Master’s Degree in Education; PA teaching certification; 5 years teaching experience, Behavioral background. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues both orally and in writing necessary.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCaBA, BCBA, or BCBA-D) license required. Bachelor’s degree in Education or Psychology Related Human Services field required. Certification in teaching or school psychology preferred.

Knowledge and experience related to behavior shaping, data collection procedures, development of behavioral techniques and methodology utilized with special needs students required.

  • If applicant requires a PDE Emergency Permit, contract eligibility is not applicable, and the vacancy becomes a Long Term Substitute position
