The D&R (Design & Release) Engineer is responsible to design, develop, validate and release parts under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. The D&R is also responsible to look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization. The D&R engineer is responsible to design parts to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements. The engineer is also responsible for part incorporation at the Assembly Plant.

  • Lead 3D wire routing and package CAD layout activity
  • Utilize best design efficiencies for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices
  • Create and maintain program specific foundation documents (Boundary Diagrams, DFMEA, etc.)
  • Lead manufacturing print development with Full-Service Supplier Partner, sign-off, and release
  • Create and maintain harness family complexity
  • Drive commonality of designs across multiple programs and platforms
  • Lead signoff of EDS Design requirements and Design rule checks
  • Participate in vehicle builds and lead resolution of issues (AIMS)
  • Lead resolution of warranty (AWS) issues with PVT and Supplier
  • Lead EDS cost analysis and support reviews
  • Complete Technical Design Reviews with Technical Leads
  • Manage component and harness APQP with STA Partners and on time part delivery
  • Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact
  • Interface with Systems Engineering on logical and physical schematic development
  • Work with CAE Team to complete circuit CAE analysis
  • Define harness to harness in-line connector pinouts and terminal sizing
  • Support definition of fuse size, wire size and type
  • Configure system power and ground
  • Assign and define circuit options
  • Support electrical EDS compatibility reviews and sign-off wire harness prints
  • Manage logical design data via Catia and Team Center Engineering
  • Develop and maintain installation illustrations

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering discipline
  • Ability to travel to suppliers or assembly facilities to support APQP and build events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSEE or BSME
  • High Voltage Wiring or electrical systems experience
  • Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system or functional knowledge of vehicle wiring system.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle development process (GPDS), change control process (WERS), Team Center Engineering (Tce), and vehicle launch experience
