Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (Rochambeau), has an immediate opening for a Applications & Data Systems Administrator – Full-time.

Salary Information: The salary for this position is set at $75,000-90,000 annually, minus applicable taxes and legal withholdings. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant education and years of experience.

Benefits: In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for: paid time off, paid holidays, and health and retirement benefits enrollment, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 403(b) plan.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Applications & Data Systems Administrator plays a key role in ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of data by overseeing the school’s key platforms, integrations, and help desk. This position requires collaborative work with staff and administrators across various departments (Admissions, Academics, Advancement, Business Operations, and Finance), providing expert-level guidance, troubleshooting, and system optimization. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate the competencies and behaviors needed to support the core values, vision, and mission of Rochambeau.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Manage, maintain, and ensure the integrity of all school database systems and data-related platforms.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for (including but not limited to) the school's key platforms: Powerschool(SIS.), Securly, Seesaw, SchoolPass (arrival, dismissal, activities, transportation), August Health, Finalsite, School Messenger, Campsite and Pronote.
  • Directly supervise and provide mentorship to two helpdesk technicians, providing leadership for their daily activities and professional development.
  • Collaborate with department-specific stakeholders (Admissions, Academics, Advancement, Athletics, Finance, etc.) to understand their data workflows and ensure efficient use of systems.
  • Oversee data integration and synchronization between platforms, ensuring consistent and accurate data across systems.
  • Develop and enforce data access protocols and user permissions, maintaining compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, PCI).
  • Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement timely solutions.
  • Monitor system performance and coordinate updates, backups, and patches as needed.
  • Provide user support, training, and documentation to internal stakeholders, including part-time and full-time data users in various departments.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of database designs, configurations, and procedures.
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new database tools or enhancements to existing systems.
  • Support annual and seasonal data-related processes (e.g., enrollment rollovers, faculty onboarding, fundraising campaigns, student scheduling).
  • Ensure data integrity and quality through audits, validation procedures, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field of study from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in database administration.
  • Minimum of two years managing a team of direct reports.
  • Proven experience in data collection, management, analysis, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL, MySQL, or similar platforms (ability to write queries and understand database schemas).
  • Ability to analyze data for quality, integrity, and accuracy (including designing and executing data audits and validation procedures).
  • Strong analytical and research skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is critical for ensuring data accuracy and compliance with security protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse departments and to communicate clearly and effectively with non-technical users.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience with common educational platforms (Powerschools, Google Suite, Finalsite, etc.); Powerschool experience is strongly preferred.
  • Track record of providing effective technical support and training to non-technical users.
  • Successful experience working within a culturally diverse community.
  • Capacity to evaluate new technologies and make strategic recommendations that align with the school's long-term goals.
  • Capacity to envision ways to share data cross-functionally (Creativity and innovation).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position primarily operates in a school/office environment. The role requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and walking, extensive use of computers and other office equipment, and occasional lifting, pushing, pulling or other moving of equipment up to 50 pounds.
