The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking enthusiastic Gymnastics Recreation Instructors to coach and instruct at multiple levels in our Recreation Class and Competitive Teams programs! This role is an exciting and fulfilling opportunity within our popular and growing Gymnastics Program. Recreation Instructors serve Arlington County’s community and surrounding areas by offering enjoyable, quality gymnastics classes and coaching competitive teams for all ages and abilities. The Arlington County Gymnastics program supports a robust recreational class program and two successful, competitive teams - the Arlington Aerials and the Arlington Tigers. Our programs offer over 400 classes yearly and teams compete in various state, regional, and national competitions.
Specific duties include:
Currently our program is looking for people who can work weekday evenings and/or weekends (both Saturday and Sunday) with experience in any of the following areas:

Minimum: High School Diploma/GED; plus
Gymnastic Recreation Instructor I: $21.45/hourly
Gymnastic Recreation Instructor II: $25.43/hourly
Gymnastic Recreation Instructor III: $29.39/hourly
Substitution: Additional education may be substituted for experience requirement, with each year of post-high school education substituting for 400 hours of technical experience. However, additional education may not be substituted for the instructing hours requirement.

Must possess or obtain the First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire.

The applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment, a valid driver license, and provide proof, or the applicant must have the ability to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties at locations other than the primary worksite.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Hours: A combination of part-time and full-time hours is available, up to 40 hours per week. The role is temporary with the potential to become long-term based on departmental needs and employee availability. Typical shifts include weekday evenings (4:00p.m–9:00 p.m.) and weekends (Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Sunday: 8:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.), with most hours scheduled during evenings and weekends.
