The School of Nursing in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University has developed a research-intensive/teaching/learning environment for students and faculty. About the Opportunity

The School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Open Rank Non-Tenure Track Clinical Professor and Program Director for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program offered at the Charlotte, NC campus. This position has an anticipated start date in July 2026.

The candidate will have demonstrated teaching excellence and commitment to supporting faculty, staff, and student environments. The candidate should possess a terminal degree in Nursing, Education, or related field.

We welcome candidates with interdisciplinary expertise who can lead and collaborate with faculty and researchers at Bouvé and across Northeastern University.

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, engaging in scholarship, and participating in departmental, college, and university service. Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student populations.

Responsibilities of the Program Director include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee and provide content needed to ensure accuracy and compliance with governance and regulatory processes including: curriculum governance/catalog updates, website updates, marketing materials, college database maintenance (e.g. programs list or accreditation information), professional licensure disclosure, accidental injury or liability insurance enrollment, DNP/PhD student funding as applicable and other program-specific consents and waivers, as applicable.
  • Ensure timely submission of forms relating to students’ achievement of milestones or other academic needs (such as CPT approvals, DNP/PhD candidacy, thesis or dissertation milestones, responses to Office of Global Services, Co-Operative Education, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Bouvé College Enrollment Management and Global Launch Services on strategic plans for program enrollment growth or sustainability across our global university system.
  • Help to recruit and yield qualified students from different backgrounds and ensure that all correspondence with prospective and enrolled students is accurate and timely.
  • In collaboration with Bouvé College Enrollment Management, evaluate applicants for admission to graduate and second-degree programs and internal transfer applicants to undergraduate programs.
  • In partnership with Office of Student Services, monitor academic standing and progression of all students enrolled in the program and complete graduation clearance processes as requested. Supervise or provide department-based professional student services, such as program-specific advising and guidance on professional licensure as applicable. Complete faculty advisor training program offered by Office of Student Services.
  • Initiate and foster external relationships that are beneficial to the program and/or that inform program development, including with professional associations, clinical placement and internship sites, guest lecturers, industry leaders or program advisory board members, alumni, potential donors, and partner institutions for prospective applicants to the program.
  • Represent the program at department, college and university events that relate to the viability and success of the program such as open houses, convocation, commencement and faculty meetings.
  • Execute and oversee program assessment and evaluation; manage any professional accreditation and/or licensing review as needed by specific program; and/or university requirement. Oversee execution of the program’s assessment plan.
  • Forecast and manage the allocation of program and university resources in collaboration with the school Dean (when applicable) including: Staff support and faculty teaching workload (within program and in collaboration with Associate Dean of Academic Affairs as needed for interdisciplinary programs), class demand forecasting and optimal class scheduling (via the Courseleaf/CLSS system), orient new faculty hires regarding program student learning outcomes and assessment and other matters specific to instruction within the program and review part-time faculty evaluations with Unit Leader and make recommendations regarding future part-time faculty hiring.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in Nursing, Education, or related field by appointment start date.
  • Evidence of an established area of research and scholarship, teaching excellence, and demonstrated excellence and commitment to supporting faculty, staff, and student environments.
  • Licensure in the state of North Carolina
  • Eligibility for RN licensure in Massachusetts

Pay Range:

52-week salary ranges: Assistant Clinical Professor: $84,000.00 - $102,000.00 | Associate Clinical Professor: $92,000.00 - $112,000.00 | Clinical Professor: $101,000.00 - $123,000.00

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
