Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice/Acute Care Clinical Pharmacist

The Department of Pharmacy Practice at North Dakota State University School of Pharmacy is seeking a qualified individual for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice, with progressive clinical pharmacy practice opportunities at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. This position will involve full time work during the university academic year and full or part-time work during the summer months.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and/or teaching a variety of possible pharmacotherapy topics within the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) didactic curriculum. Topics may be assigned based on individual interest/expertise in conjunction with department needs such as internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine and hematology/oncology. Topics may be taught in a case-based course and/or other didactic and/or laboratory curriculum. The individual will precept Pharm.D. students during required Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. At this practice site, integrated clinical practice opportunities will be available based on the candidate’s qualifications and areas of expertise, allowing for active participation in patient care during scheduled shifts. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to perform research/scholarship, as well as service to the School/College/University/Practice site.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. degree
  • Completed/completing a PGY1 ASHP-accredited residency, or have accumulated at least three years of recent and consistent experience in clinical pharmacy practice, including direct patient care
  • Eligible for pharmacist licensure in North Dakota
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills
  • Demonstration of self-development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a PGY2 residency in Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine or Oncology specialty.
  • Accumulated more than 3 years of consistent experience in clinical pharmacy practice
  • Clinical experience with collaborative drug therapy management and team-based care provision
  • Accumulated 3 years of teaching experience in pharmacy or medical programs
  • Accumulated 3 years of precepting experience in pharmacy or medical programs
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist or other Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification
  • Additional certifications in pharmacy or other related healthcare fields
  • Research/scholarship experience
  • Experience with procuring and managing grants
