Overview
The Manufacturing Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and supporting daily manufacturing operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring alignment with quality, safety, and production standards. This role supports the smooth execution of production activities while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, project leadership, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily manufacturing operations to meet production goals.
- Support production activities, including filling in on production lines and troubleshooting on the production floor as needed.
- Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Implement policies, programs, and directives from senior management.
- Maintain company quality and quantity standards while adhering to regulatory compliance and safety policies.
- Facilitate and lead continuous improvement events, such as Kaizen workshops and team huddles.
- Support Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) activities, including process updates and alignment.
- Act as a project leader for operational improvements and cross-functional initiatives.
- Assist and provide guidance during internal investigations, problem-solving sessions, and team huddles.
- Maintain harmony and cohesiveness within the department, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Train employees on new processes, equipment, and operational standards to ensure compliance with quality and safety protocols.
- Assist in tracking and recording employee training and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and leadership teams to align operational objectives and support problem-solving initiatives.
- Report operations performance through Daily Management processes up to Tier 2.
- Collect, analyze, and present key performance metrics to leadership to drive improvements.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and receptive in fast-paced situations.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills with a focus on teamwork.
- Operate effectively in collaborative and independent work environments with minimal supervision.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Policy Manual and safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must pass a post-offer drug screen.
- Lean Manufacturing training or certification is highly recommended.
- Prior manufacturing experience required.
- Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, production software, PLM systems, and Dayforce is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mfg. processes, equipment, and operational metrics.
- Capable of completing paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to successful completion.
- Familiarity with basic Continuous Improvement tools and concepts.
- Must be able to work on-site, 40 hours per week, with flexibility for occasional extended hours or schedule adjustments based on business needs.
- Majority of day spent in Controlled Environment with special gowning/
clothing and hygiene requirements.
- Required use of safety glasses.
- Limited exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing of
products.
- Good visual acuity./ Good manual dexterity.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds as needed.
