Job Description

Performs Caf?/Gift Shop operations, including opening and closing procedures, accurate cash register functions, cash management applications, product knowledge, identification of pricing discrepancies, replenishment awareness, placement, and food/beverage service.

Responsibilities

• Performs food service operations, which includes preparation of specialty coffees and teas, handling food, dishes, equipment, and supplies in a safe and sanitary manner. Stocks food items, condiments, serving utensils, containers, dishes, silver and other appropriate items. Heats food, arranges and cleans food service area. Responsible for accurately recording temperatures of food and equipment. (40%)
• Performs sales operations, which includes stocking and merchandising retail items and assisting customers in the selection of products. Helps customers navigate the online merchandise order application. (25%)
• Receives all payment options; returns accurate change to customers as required. Prepares night closures and deposit of register as overseen by management. (5%)
• Obtains necessary supplies and merchandise from the storeroom and refrigerators. (10%)
• As requested by the manager, receives and prices merchandise and aids in preparation of annual physical inventory. Performs the opening of the shop and distributes monies into registers for daily operations. (10%)
• Checks daily staffing schedule for changes in work assignments. (5%)

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Minimum:

• California Food Handlers Card

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum:

• Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate the Internet

Preferred:

• POS (point of sales) experience/knowledge

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Requires customer service skills and mindset
• Able to communicate with customers in a pleasant and effective manner
• Knowledge of Cash Register and charge card operations preferred.
