About the position
The La Trobe Rural Health School (LRHS) is the largest rural health school in Australia. The LRHS is based at all four regional campuses of the University: Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton and Albury-Wodonga. The School has a wide range of health courses including dentistry, oral health, nursing, midwifery, paramedicine, public health, pharmacy, biomedical sciences (onshore and offshore), physiotherapy, social work, speech pathology, exercise physiology, exercise science and occupational therapy. The LRHS aims to make Rural Health and Wellbeing matter locally, nationally and internationally through graduates and research outcomes that make a difference.
The discipline of dentistry and oral health delivers undergraduate courses in Dental Science and Oral Health Science. The discipline has moved to a purpose-built rural dental and oral health clinical teaching school on the Bendigo Health campus. We are seeking an individual who is committed to providing high-quality teaching and an excellent student experience that prepares students to be the dental practitioners of the future. With an eye to improving the quality of and access to care in regional and rural areas of Australia, you will be familiar with innovative technology and approaches, to promote La Trobe as a leader in dental education in Australia. Our network of specialist leads and clinical educators support our delivery model to produce outstanding oral health practitioners.
A Level C academic is expected to develop curriculum, teach and/or undertake research and/or other scholarly work relevant to Dentistry and Oral Health. An academic at this level will make a significant contribution to the discipline of Dentistry and Oral Health at the national level. They will normally play a major role or provide a significant degree of leadership in scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
