In this role, you will purchase and provide supply support to achieve strategic and real-time objectives for one of the region’s most complex wastewater treatment systems. About the Role:

King County Wastewater Treatment Division inventory purchasing specialists manages over 15,000 unique parts in our secured stores to be available when requested and provides procurement services to the trades (crafts) for all other non-inventory items. This position is responsible for overall material readiness of all equipment at the Renton WWTP through the procurement and dispensing of critical spare parts and materials.

Job Duties

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Shipping and receiving
  • Inventory management
  • Maintain computerized internal purchasing/inventory records and information system
  • Work with AP to resolve discrepancies and billing for accuracy
  • Purchasing goods and services

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Qualifications You Bring:

  • Knowledge of basic warehousing equipment and supplies
  • Knowledge of heavy duty and industrial parts
  • Skill in the use of personal computers, word processors and database management software
  • Skill in operating forklift and other material handling equipment
  • Skill in interpreting and evaluating manuals and catalogs

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:

  • Work Location: South Treatment Plant - 1200 Monster Rd SW, Renton, WA 98057
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week either 4x10 or 5x8 work schedule. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by S.E.I.U. 925 (Wastewater Treatment Division).
  • Physical Requirement: Incumbents perform field work at a wastewater treatment plant and associated facilities and are required to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds, use ladders, and there is exposure to hazardous chemicals and noxious odors and high noise levels.
  • Workplace Exposure: All weather conditions in an industrial wastewater environment. Will be around chemicals, loud noise, and biohazards. Will be entering confined spaces, and will need to wear a respirator.
