Pharmacy Technicians Manager - Pharmacy - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

The Pharmacy Technicians Manager is responsible for all pharmacy technicians by establishing and maintaining performance accountability under the direction of the Pharmacy management team.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists the Pharmacy Operations Manager with all pharmacy technician and intern pharmacist matters, including the recruitment, selection and on-boarding of new employees.
  • Review staffing needs and draft pharmacy technicians and intern pharmacists schedule to assure operational needs are properly resourced and to provide employees with appropriate notification per union contract agreements
  • Partner with Pharmacy Operations Manager to make arrangements in response to technician and intern sick calls and shift vacancies during administrative hours.
  • Act as a facilitator in the training and mentorship programs for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy technician students.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining training modules for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns to provide consistent staff familiarity with their duties, department policies and job-related technologies and equipment.
  • Develops and conducts competencies related to job activities.
  • Contributes actively during department huddles and meetings to improve processes or workflows. Make recommendations as needed.
  • Creates unit inspection/update schedules for technicians and interns and audits for compliance.
  • Ensures adequate stock without overstocking; assists in purchasing and inventory management.
  • Serve as a key member for any implementation of pharmacy systems, i.e. Pyxis, PharmacyKeeper
  • Serve as a backup for the Pharmacy Buyer in the event of unscheduled absences.
  • Serve as a backup for the Specialist, pharmacy systems in the event of unscheduled absences
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High School or equivalent
  • Req Specialized/technical training Graduation from accredited Pharmacy Technician School
  • Req 5-7 years Experience as a pharmacy technician in an acute care hospital setting
  • Req Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Req Able to function independently and as a member of a team.
  • Req Able to communicate effectively with pharmacy staff and other hospital/clinic personnel
  • Req Proficient in using Microsoft office products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Supervisory and/or Lead experience
  • Pref Experience in purchasing and inventory management

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Pharmacy Technician (CA DCA) Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).
