As the Director Analytical Sciences - China, you will be a member of the global Analytical Sciences leadership team and be responsible for the development and the output of a team of about 20 researchers.

Your key responsibilities:

• Lead a team of around 20 researchers from senior scientists to lab technicians and ensure timely delivery of a broad range of innovation projects
• Build and expand network in the global innovation community (Science&Research Department and business innovation teams) at dsm-firmenich, actively contribute to ideation, opportunity scouting, project shaping and project execution
• As a member of the global Analytical Sciences leadership team, contribute to the development and implementation of a global strategy and coordinate activities across zones. Represent the global Analytical Sciences team in other initiatives when relevant and needed
• Attract, develop, retain talents and prepare long term personal development plans
• Stay up-to-date with latest scientific and technical developments in the industry, academia, and start-ups, build networks, proactively explore opportunities for open innovation, and manage strategic scientific relationships
• Along with the other S&R managers in China, respond to strategic needs for innovation applicable to the local market, leveraging global innovation capabilities and processes

You bring

• PhD in analytical chemistry or a related field, strong track record in analytical chemistry, experience in a similar role in R&D with a minimum of 5 years in the industry
• Passion for research and strategic mindset with the ability to connect science, technology, and business needs into actionable plans that generate value
• Excellent communication and networking ability, Ability to efficiently interact with and develop joint plans with innovation partners• Strong collaborative and interdisciplinary mindset with entrepreneurial spirit
• Leadership skills, learning agility and sound emotional intelligence
• Fluency in English is a must, ability to speak Mandarin is a plus
