Job Description

The CDM Smith International Development Group is seeking a junior- drafter for assist in designing of various water and wastewater infrastructure including the design of critical water pipelines, reservoirs and pump stations to convey the domestic water from the National Conveyor Project for distribution throughout the middle and northern governorates in Jordan.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and design:

  • Prepare 2D technical drawings and layouts for water and wastewater infrastructure (pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, etc.) using CAD/Civil 3D software under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Assist in developing 3D models to support design visualization and coordination.
  • Perform basic quantity take offs and dimensional calculations to support project accuracy and cost estimation.
  • Coordinate with engineers and other drafters to ensure drawings are accurate, consistent, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Review design drawings and plans prepared by subcontractors to ensure alignment with project requirements and CDM Smith quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations as well as CDM Smith standards.
  • Support detect clash in water/wastewater infrastructure using BIM software

GIS support:

  • Assist in GIS databases related to water resources and infrastructure.
  • Generate maps and figures using GIS software to support project planning and reporting.
  • Perform basic spatial analysis and integrate GIS data with CAD drawings.
  • Ensure that the GIS database is consistently updated and accessible to relevant project teams.

Project Support and Documentation

  • Provide drafting and GIS support to assist in the planning, design and execution of water and wastewater management projects.
  • Provide technical support in drafting and GIS to project teams.
  • Conduct field surveys and data collection activities to gather information for design and planning as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all drafting and GIS activities and ensure compliance with internal documentation standards.
  • Collaborate closely with senior BWI and CDM Smith project staff, engineers, international subject matter experts, subcontractors, drafters, and technicians, to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and/or 3D drafting.
  • Min - 3 years of relevant experience, with 1 year in water/wastewater pipeline design drafting for water/wastewater infrastructure such as water reservoirs, pump stations and treatment plants Is preferred
  • Possess strong working knowledge of core CADD applications (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and GIS software (ArcGIS)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic is required
  • Effective team player and has ability to work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in additional CAD software such as Revit.
  • Experience and/or familiarity in Intelligent Modeling/CADD environment is a plus
