POSITION SUMMARY: Assists with duties assigned by the student restore teacher to enhance the learning of all students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works directly with teachers to carry out specific tasks related to Student Restore program.
- Under direction of the student restore teacher, learns techniques for implementing curriculum.
- Reviews teacher’s lesson plans and understands their role in assisting the teacher implement the curriculum.
- Under the direction of the student restore teacher, assists with independent and tutorial work.
- Assists teacher with carrying out his/her responsibilities by setting up demonstrations, copying instructional materials and checking progress in class assignments.
- Assists the teacher in specific with carrying out his/her responsibilities by checking progress in class assignments, running errands, and escorting students in the building.
- Assists the teacher in specific routine activities such as drills, reinforcement, developing verbal and listening communication skills, and demonstrating helping, guiding, and interest-building exercises.
- Assists the teacher in the overall supervision, control, and management of the classroom.
- Assists in the development of learning packets and other instructional aids.
- Help collect, distribute, and return materials from sending schools.
- Assists at times with additional responsibilities and assignments as needed by the teacher or principal.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to move within building and classroom.
- Ability to relate and communicate to students regardless of their needs.
- Ability to interact effectively with staff and parents.
- Ability to safely supervise students in all areas of the building, inside and outside.
- Ability to understand limited role of student resource assistant with respect to teacher’s responsibilities.
- Proficient with computer using MS Office and Google programs, printer, fax, and phone.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Teaching certificate preferred; substitute certification required.
- Positive, caring manner with children.
- Friendly, helpful attitude in working with students and staff.

- Variety of equipment based on curricular needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Within assigned building(s) and classroom(s).
- Ability to work in a variety of locations and travel throughout the building(s), including lunch rooms and hallways.
- Duties may require working non-traditional hours, including evenings.
- Duties will require the ability to meet the physical demands of handling a variety of student needs.
- Duties will require the ability to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand, see and reach.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
