Description:
Responsibilities:
- Ensures safe and adequate patient care during assigned shift with documentations that is accurate, legible dated/timed.
- Adjusts N/P ratios by altering assignments based on patient need. Prioritizes needs to the best utilization of resources.
- Communicates hospital activities, emergency situations, Patient/ staff/physician needs of an unusual nature to the AOC.
- Documents hospital deaths. Ensures timely notification of next of kin/Sharing Hope SC/selected funeral home. Serves as a liaison with county coroner, law enforcement concerning deaths, autopsies and transfer of deceased.
- Ensures privacy/confidentiality of patient, employee, and hospital information.
- Demonstrates appropriate handling/ storage of medications. Investigates narcotic discrepancies occurring during shift.
- Coordinates intra/interdepartmental functions as indicated/licensure/competency allows.
- Promptly places work order(s) for environmental/equipment repair or maintenance needs.
- Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful conditions.
- Establishes relationships with ED and admitting medical staff to optimize patient care and staff relationships.
- Takes ownership of customer needs. Utilizes GET-IT (Greet, Explain, Task, Instruct Thank) when communicating with patients, physicians and staff. Utilizes the GIFT (Give sincere apology, Identify with complaint, Fix and follow-up, Thank them for bringing to our attention) method when responding to customer concerns.
Qualifications:
- Five years acute care clinical experience with at least one year in a charge nurse or preceptor role. Rapid Response and PICC experience required.
