Module Leader II

New Bern, NC / Full-time

The Module Leader II - Product Development - is responsible for leading the development of systems, sub-systems, and components within the global oven modular design kit (MOD). This role defines and implements the module architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with Global Module Owners to achieve a technical optimum that aligns with Global Architecture. The Module Leader II drives the deployment and fulfillment of strategic targets related to innovation, digitalization, sustainability, complexity reduction, cost optimization, time-to-market, and quality performance.

In this position, the Module Leader II oversees engineering activities from requirements management through design, validation, and industrialization readiness. The role manages development module budgets, drives lifecycle improvements, and ensures compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards. Close collaboration with purchasing and lifecycle teams supports supplier strategy and the integration of sustainable, circular design principles. Additionally, the Module Leader II maintains engineering responsibility for clearings and the intellectual property portfolio, ensuring the continuous evolution of common systems and technologies across global product platforms.

Your responsibilities

  • Define, align and update regional module roadmaps, incl. release, roll-out and phase-out planning together with Global Module Owner and product architects (Big-Picture, Tech-Push)
  • Drive further evolution of modular kit (MOD), creation and evolution of system- / component-architectures with regard to functions, complexity, standardization and flexibility within area of responsibility (including possible configurations)
  • Decide about and manage technical complexity for common systems (OVCU), sub-systems and components (alignment with product architect), drive global synergies
  • New development of basic designs (further evolution and phase-out) of modules and components according to project targets and module roadmaps in alignment with Global Module Roadmap.
  • Insurance of proper collection and definition of system requirements L2/L3 (e.g. w/ DC, PD, PU and QM, drawings, assembly-requirements, input for TCDs); incl. technology integration management of HW, SW & digital requirements where applicable
  • Develop and implement plan to ensure achievement of module targets (SPC variable, development costs (business plan), quality, complexity, supplier strategy, environmental characteristics) together w/ architecture management
  • Define and synchronize valid interfaces (space, function, geometry, CAD-data, …) within module and to adjacent modules across all architectures in collaboration with Global Module Owner (GMO)
  • Insurance of Industrialization readiness of basic designs together with Production (e.g. AEM in early concept phase) and push manufacturing automatization ability
  • Consider state-of the art technologies / standards and keep competitor situation (cost / performance benchmark), apply patent screenings / intellectual property claiming, apply methods for robust engineering for module and sub-modules in regional module in close collaboration with global module organization
  • Identify need of specific new technology development for Feature Streams by means of concept studies or pre-dev. projects (proposal and initiation via architecture backlog / Big-Picture)
  • Initiate / support continuous process improvements within area of responsibility
  • All other duties as assigned

Your profile

  • Four-Year College (Engineering or comparable technical degree) – Required
  • Master’s Degree – Business Administration – Preferred
  • 5-7 Years (Development environment experience; preferably manufacturing environment) – Required
  • 3-5 Years (People Manager Experience) - Required
  • Occasional work on assembly line, labs and model shop in support of product prototype builds.
  • Advanced/Excellent communication and negotiation, Project Management, Time Management
  • and Organizational skills.
  • Prior Project Handling experience
  • Advanced/Excellent MSOffice, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Demonstration of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Familiarity with business agility and utilizing the process to its advantages when needed.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision, handle multiple tasks and be prompt in meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to work well with people in other departments under difficult and sometimes stressful circumstances.
  • Knowledge of Product Development processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters relating to: Marketing plans/strategies, product costs, personnel data, legal/regulatory issues, company financial data and patentable ideas
  • Ability to interact with all levels and cultures of workplace personnel
  • Advanced (Excellent) communication skills – written, typing and verbal
  • Quick learner and self-starter.
  • Dependable with the ability to work with little supervision as the leader of a team.

Your Pay & Benefits

The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.

Benefits offered include the following:

  • Two weeks of paid vacation for all non-temporary status new hires below Director level positions. Vacation entitlement increases based on years of service with BSH.
  • Unlimited paid vacation for all Director and above level positions.
  • The greater of (a) 40 hours of paid sick leave or (b) state or local minimum requirements for paid leave (Non-Production Line).
  • 40 hours of paid personal leave (Production Line).
  • 12 days of paid holidays per year (max 8 hours paid per day).
