QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail in fast paced environment. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow for increased efficiency. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred: Similar job experience, preferably Retail Pharmacy experience
Lic/Reg/Cert: Oregon Board of Pharmacy Technician License, National Certification within one year of hire date
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Medium demands for push/pull/lifting work; able to lift 30 pounds; stand for long periods. Must be able to work independently. Ability to analyze work situations, problem solve, work in a professional manner, prioritize workload and effectively handle stressful situations. Must be able to read, evaluate and interpret Oregon Board of Pharmacy Laws and Rules. Work under supervision in filling orders and preparing prescriptions; data entry and navigation of both health-system and pharmacy computer system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Interpret and accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Prepare medications for dispensing including accurate labeling and documentation under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure compliance with departmental/state/federal regulations and patient safety.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and associated safety practices.
- Bill third party insurance plans accurately, including investigating coverage. Resolve rejected claims in a timely manner.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of all technician and pharmacy clerk roles. Performs clerk duties when needed.
- Provide excellent customer service with a desire to provide exceptional patient satisfaction in person and on the telephone.
- Maintain and organize pharmacy inventory. Is aware of inventory control systems; orders and stocks areas appropriately and cost effectively. Removes outdated medications in the pharmacy and from assigned units. Verifies inventory received against the invoice noting any exceptions and communicating these to immediate supervisor. Stocks the shelves, rotating stock appropriately.
- Accurately maintains narcotics control data.
- Process packaging patients, including obtaining MARs.
- Maintain care home relationships.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy. Cleans all equipment necessary to perform duties, reporting any failures or need for repair to immediate supervisor or Pharmacy Manager immediately.
- Contribute to policy changes, goal setting and making recommendations for improvements. Work on project(s) that contribute to the development and subsequent improvement of the Pharmacy.
- Attend department staff meetings.
- Obtain National Certification within one year of hire date
