Job Summary

The Patient Resource Specialist will serve as part of the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Care Clinic multidisciplinary team to identify and remove barriers to care for individuals participating in grant programming at the BCC.

Primary responsibilities encompass comprehensive patient financial management and advocacy.

Patient Resource Specialists are responsible for determining patient eligibility for various programs, enrolling patients in those programs, ensuring patients understand the programs and their responsibilities, and their insurance/program coverage plan(s). They must be willing to become a KYnector within 6 months of hire.

The Patient Resource Specialist will assist patients with grant enrollment, Medicaid/Insurance enrollment, provide guidance with financial assistance programs, advocate for billing issue resolution, and ensure that all databases/computer systems are up to date with accurate and timely coverage information.

Patient Resource Specialist ensure proper coordination of benefits, verifying that Ryan White Grants are the payor of last resort on accounts. The Patient Resource Specialist will work closely with patients and their caregivers, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other staff of the Bluegrass Care Clinic to determine and execute the most appropriate fiscal solutions.

The Patient Resource Specialist will provide analytical and operational support for relevant patient financial services that may include, but are not limited to, billing and payment processes, analysis and strategy for process improvement, Federal and State assistance application processes, financial assistance applications, and research or grant enrollment.
